Plants and Shubs

I have just re-designed my whole garden and dug up everything and started from stratch.

We have now finished apart from buying and putting in the plants.

Does anyone know where a good place to buys plants and shrubs at an affordable price in Reading Berkshire?
I have spent a lot doing the garden so need to keep my plant costs down if i can

As it's coming up to autumn when it's a good time to move and split bare-rooted plants, ask around friends, family and neighbours and see if anyone is getting rid of any plants or willing to share off-cuts, etc, with you.

Bought a "Bud Bloomer Red" for £1.99 from Homebase on Saturday (a 7" pink heather in a pot - not one of the painted ones). Cute.
  • Do you have a local freecycle group? If so, post a "wanted" request and you should get some offers

If you have Aldi and Lidl round you, keep a watch on their featured specials. Their plants are usually quite good.

I was going to suggest this.

Often we have folk offering established plants.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

My local Aldi have shrubs in 2 litre pots (I went in there today, and had to restrain myself from buying any). They were a bargain £2.99.
If you don't ask, you don't get! ;)

Thanks. I have an Aldi near me so I will take a look and see if they have anything as thats the sort of thing I am looking for. I will also check out the local Homebase and see if they have anything on sale
  • If you have a patch that doesn't drain too well, I have Arum Lilys which like a very wet area to grow in. I have a load of them in sizes from the smallish baby tubers right up to mature 10 yr old ones which are about 25cm long.

The prices in the garden centres would scare you off some plants so I prefer ones that can be divided or grown easily from seed. I have plenty of seeds too from this year but depends what you are looking for.
