eBay - Car Classifieds

Hello All.

In about a week, I will be listing my car for sale on eBay and I am now aware that I have two methods of selling via eBay.

I can sell in the original format, an online auction, something which I am familiar with and have done previously.

Or alternatively, I can now sell my car by using eBay Classifieds instead.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience selling using this format and could perhaps provide some feedback of their experience.

I am trying to decide whether using the Classifieds would be a better option than using the traditional auction format.

classifieds are good. you pay a one off fee (£13 i think) and then no additional fees, arrange the price as a buy it now and it stays ont he site for 28 days..

if you want to do an auction, which i think is dangerous with cars, then the usual route and the fees are dependent on the amount at tehe end of auction. I think the classified is a better route, you know how much you will end up wiht for the car and its there for people to see for the month

i sold mine via a classified on ebay. bloke came from london to buy the car - i live in northern ireland - though the car was a pretty rare AMG Mercedes.

Personally, yes, try it as a classified, put in a realistic price and lots of pics and info and see what happens.

it worked for me and i'd use it again. :-)

    Hi.

    I appreciate your replies.

If you sell via eBay Classifieds, I assume it is the same as if placing an advert in the Autotrader? The interested party contacts you, arranges a viewing and then a deal is made etc.....

You both don't like the idea of selling using the auction format. May I ask why?

I have actually sold two cars successfully via this method about a year ago with no problems whatsoever. I therefore would really appreciate hearing your reasons behind not liking the auction format.

No control over the final purchase price. You *might* get what you want for the car but you *might not*.

Yes it works the same as advertising at autotrader.co.uk, ppl phone you and make an appointment to see it.
