Adult son moving in temporarily with pensioner - affect on housing benefit.

I have searched but cannot find the answer to this specific question. A close family member passed away recently, aged 75. He and his wife received some HB and CTB, but no other benefits apart from their state pension. His wife is 73 and her son adult son has moved in with her temporarily to offer support (emotional support, she has no care needs). He is employed and expects to stay with her for approximately 3 months. Will this affect her housing benefit? I remember reading something about changes not affecting benefits for the first 26 weeks, but I don't know if it relates to this.

    Example non-dependent deductions.

Run her details through the Turn2us online benefit calculator to see if she is entitled to pension credit.
  • Thanks for the advice Big Aunty and thank you also for the tip about pension credit - we hadn't thought of that. She is over 65, which should mean that her current benefits are not affected.
  • Non dependent deduction delay means no deduction for the first 26 weeks
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
