Hi everyone
I'm looking for some suggestions regarding holiday places to take my girlfriend. It will be her first time abroad and our first holiday together!!
We have been through a particularly rough time with issues I've discussed on this board (where I received great advice!) and I'm hoping you guys will be able to help again!
We're open to anything, even non-traditional holiday locations.
We are an 'all weather' couple so we are not just looking for somewhere with a beach and lots of sun!
We have around £600 to spend (not including spending money).
We are hoping to book for February 2013 (our 3 year anniversary)!
What would you recommend?
P.s. wasn't sure where to post this, no one on the holiday board has replied and there's more people here

Come on OP, give us a few clues please
:
How old are you both?
Can you 'get by' happily in any languages apart from English?
How long do you want to go away for?
What are your interests?0 -
Skiing! Great fun, and better than taking pot luck on getting good weather in February.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Is that £600 each?0

Trip to northern Sweden or Finland to see the northern lights? Can be done for the budget if you go independently.0

Don't do 2 weeks if it is her first time abroad and your first holiday... do one week and then leave yourselves wishing it was longer.
2 weeks on holiday just the two of you can often end in arguments, you get restless because of heat, a bad tummy, sun burnt etc and then in each others company 24/7 it can go oh so wrong!:jBaby Boy born December 2012

How long do you want to be away for? £600 could probably get you a good city break for 4 or 5 days (possibly longer depending on how fussy you are about accommodation) and that sort of holiday can be good regardless of the weather (particularly if you enjoy cultural things like museums/historical sites etc).
Prague and Amsterdam would both be good choices - they have reputations as destinations for stag dos/red light district/heavy drinking etc, but they are brilliant cities despite those things rather than because of them in my opinion. They are both really easy to get around, easy to communicate because locals tend to speak English and have plenty to see/do.
I wouldn't spend more than 3-4 days in Prague itself, but it would be quite easy to travel to some other bits of the country if you want a longer holiday (Cesky Krumlov is great as an add on).Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
For £600 I went to Rome with my DP for 5 days. It was truly beautiful and I would recommend to everyone. So much to see, and a nice hotel to relax in.0

Rome, Venice, Paris, the list is endless.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Eurostar usually have some winter break deals for around that time and European rail travel is reasonably priced on the whole. You could spend a few days in Paris and then move on to Brussels for a short while and both Antwerp and Bruges are a short train ride away for some excursions. If the weather holds (a bit of an if, admittedly) Bruges at night along the canals can be very romantic.0

We went to Paris at the beginning of December for a long weekend. We LOVED it. It was good for my hubby cos he hadn't been abroad before and wasn't too 'out there', there was loads to do and really romantic.0
