CH Pipes and 2 Gas Emergency Control Valves

A couple of pieces of advice from a Gas Engineer needed please...

Just moved into a new house and we are having a new combi boiler (28kw) and all new radiators fitted (8 in total). Have been advised by 1 guy to have all new pipes fitted as well but 2 other (more experienced) gas engineers have said that what is fitted is fine (10mm copper I believe). As the house is a mess at the moment I would rather upheaval happened now and not have leaks in a year when it is re-decorated but obviously don't want to spend more than I need to. Is it just a chance I will have to take?

Secondly, a radiator by the front door is hovering on huge up pipes as there is a gas ECV underneath. However, this is not attached to the meter, a 2nd ECV is attached to the meter under the stairs. Both are working. Basically we want to drop the radiator so can the extra (I think original) ECV be removed?

Many thanks, MJD

Might be worth re-posting this in the DIY board, where most of the gas people hang out (just say you were redirected from here). This board is more about gas and electric utility bills.
