Ba refund

I recently had to cancel a flight that i had booked with Avios and cash. Got the Avios back, plus a mail from BA saying the cash would also be refunded to my Paypal account, minus a £50 admin fee (two tickets, £25 each...fair enough). Their mail showed the refund as a total amount, and gave the breakdown as the Tax part and the Fare part, and of course the £50 fee part.
A day or so later I got a refund of the Tax component, less the £50. Still waiting for the Fare part, called their 'helpful' call centre and was told 'the refund has been made in full' by a person who seemed less than interested.
Is this the norm...that the refund is made in two parts? Or has an error been made by either BA or Paypal. I am in dread that i am about to fall between the two of them! I can wait or the Fare part as long as i know it's coming.

Was the fare part not paid for/ repaid in Avios points?
What did you pay in cash originally?

If you booked a flight with Avios, the fare is paid with points. Since you got those back there is no cash amount to refund. But yeah, more details about your booking would be helpful. I'm assuming this wasn't a Reward Flight Saver and that you didn't use points to upgrade?0

I think the OP completed a part cash / part avios booking, not a full redemption. In which case, I'm not sure they are entitled to the cash back, as this isn't a flexible ticket - I think getting the avios and tax element back is probably as much as they'll get.Legal team on standby0 -
Sorry guys, had a login problem so now back under a re-registered name!
The deal was a part Avios and part cash booking. The more Avios you used, the less cash needed, etc.
There were two tickets, each cost 37500 Avios plus £671, total of £1342. The cancellation terms as explained to me were all Avios plus cash, less £25 fee per ticket.
I got all the Avios. Their mail read
Total refund £1292
Tax refund £742
Fare refund £600
Admin fee -£50
I got the tax part, that being £692 (i.e. 742 minus 50) but no sign of the 600. The 'helpful' operative confirmed that i had been refunded £1292 but couldn't understand why i only got £692.
Now, either i have been misled by BA or they have made an error, or their (unlikely) norm is to split the refund.

Thanks, that makes sense.0 -

It is, but there's no reason why all the refund payments shouldn't have appeared on your bank statement simultaneously.0 -
Thanks to all who posted. I spoke with a really helpful guy in BA customer Services a short while back who sorted it all out. It seems it was their error, they didn't complete the two refunds at the same time. All monies now refunded, less the expected adminfee of course!0

Guys
Just wanted to share this story as I was impressed the system allowed me to do this.
I have lots of Avios but not collected any in the last year so wasn't eligible for reward flight saver.
I booked 2 tkts to Amsterdam for NYE paid for with 18000 avios and I paid the taxes and fees (£98 each flight).
I then looked into how I could get more Avios and found I could transfer my tesco vouchers into them so I submitted that. Sure enough my account was credited with 11000 Avios the next day and all of a sudden I was eligible to book reward flight saver flights.
The next part surprised me.
I was able to CANCEL my original flights (which cost a total of £196) minus a £50 cancellation fee so I was refunded £146 and all 18000 of my miles.
5 minutes later I rebooked the EXACT SAME FLIGHTS for a total of 18000 miles and £60 under the Reward Flight Saver scheme.
So essentially I've just been refunded £86 for the two flights for minimal fuss and effort.
Very impressed with BA here. The flexibility was a joy.0
