The beauty of it is you can go to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com and download a free database of all the speed cameras in the country onto the PDA (it's updated every month). You can then set the software up to alert you every time you are approaching a speed camera. I've used it a lot, and it's never let me down so far.
So basically, you get a PDA, satellite navigation and a speed camera detector all in one for £299. Not too shabby!

Which package did you go for Steve?0 -
it's the one shown here (although I bought it from Currys as I had a £100 voucher to use up) :Gambler wrote:Which package did you go for Steve?

The amazing thing is, that whenever I pass one of the speed cameras im physically unable to do any more than about 0-20mph as im stuck in stationary traffic. There is only one stretch of the road on my journey where I can actually hit the speed limit or go faster and sure enough its that stretch, where theres never been an accident, where the police mobile speed trap sits every other day.
To make matters worse, even though the average speed over the last 18 miles of my journey is 25mph every day, the police have announced that the reason there are so many accidents on that bit of road is speed and so they are investing 100`s of thousands of pounds installing a specs system to nap anyone who breaks the 70mph speed limit along the road. Go figure! The only people its going to catch are those who are driving along at 3am on a clear bit of road, when there are not any accidents. Its not going to stop any of the rush hour accidents which happen every day.
It can only be described as sheer lunacy!!! Thats the gverment for you. They wonder why crime is hitting record levels in most county's, its much cheaper to put a police officer in car watching the tarffic go by and raking in the odd fine here and there rather than actually doing anything constructive and solving a crime.
My vote is going in the bin this year, i cant even be bothered to vote for a another set of loonies who promise the earth and give us pluto. At least i will be able to say my vote was not wasted this time around. The best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. It costs nothing and means so much.0 -

I agree! On my 50 mile journey to work every day the police used to wait at the bottom of a dual carriageway where it turns into a single carriageway trying to catch anyone still doing 70! One morning everyone drove past at 30 mph to make a point that they were being pathetic. The policeman and his little mate looked very bored and annoyed and I haven't seen them there since...
As for using speedtrap detectors, a traffic police friend of mine (who agrees with the sentiments expressed here) said two things: if they catch you and see one in your car they'll throw the book at you as they think you're a habitual speeder and by the time your detector has detected the signal they've got you anyway...Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0
