Was looking through Loaded for DVD players but saw an ad for this GPS and radar speed trap detector:
http://loaded.com/UK_Snooper_S3_Neo_4762.htm
It says save £136 pound, which seemed a little overthe top, but after a quick Google search I have found places that are selling it for around £250! Most places are at around the £150 mark though. Still, for under £95 it seems like a pretty decent offer

Arn't they about to be made illegal. Don't think I will buy one, they are getting rid of them quick.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

They are due to become illegal as of some point next year!! BUT they are only illegal if they pick up on mobile cameras.
If you purchase a model which will only detect fixed cameras and download updates from the net, these will remain LEGAL as they identify accident blackspots.
Not really sure which is which, i know there was an article on the bbc website a couple of months back and could be worht doing a quick search on MSE.The best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. I have a TomTom Navigator HP version, which cost me £299 from Currys (it's a basic PDA bundle with the navigation software). The beauty of it is you can go to http://www.pocketgpsworld.com and download a free database of all the speed cameras in the country onto the PDA (it's updated every month). You can then set the software up to alert you every time you are approaching a speed camera. I've used it a lot, and it's never let me down so far.
So basically, you get a PDA, satellite navigation and a speed camera detector all in one for £299. Not too shabby!

But, mobile speed traps are supposed to only be situated in accident blackspots, so surely detectors which detect them are simply alerting the driver to the fact that its an accident blackspot?0 -
I think now that a lot of the detection is carried out by camera partnerships whose whole reason for being is to raise revenue to pay their wages, it now becomes a commercial venture and any opportunity to catch you is taken.
As you may guess I've just been caught doing 68mph on a 60mph twin lane road (not classified as a dual carriageway) not well pleased.0 -
I am totally in agreement with the previous two statements!! I think it is becoming more and more of a revenue maker.
After all these tax cuts promised by one party and another havr to be paid for by somthing. I think the final kick in the teeth will come when the goverment add VAT to the penalty charge (surley it cant be that far off). The best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. Well, i drive 40miles to work every day and i pass 8 speed cameras on the way there & back. The amazing thing is, that whenever I pass one of the speed cameras im physically unable to do any more than about 0-20mph as im stuck in stationary traffic. There is only one stretch of the road on my journey where I can actually hit the speed limit or go faster and sure enough its that stretch, where theres never been an accident, where the police mobile speed trap sits every other day.
To make matters worse, even though the average speed over the last 18 miles of my journey is 25mph every day, the police have announced that the reason there are so many accidents on that bit of road is speed and so they are investing 100`s of thousands of pounds installing a specs system to nap anyone who breaks the 70mph speed limit along the road. Go figure! The only people its going to catch are those who are driving along at 3am on a clear bit of road, when there are not any accidents. Its not going to stop any of the rush hour accidents which happen every day.0
