A&L Mobile Banking

I see A&L are offering £10 for mobile banking sign ups...
Has anyone managed to do this successfully yet?
I put in all my details as requested, and they text me a WAP web link.
I visit the link on my phone, and it gives me a code I need to type back into the A&L website.
I type the code in, and it says it is invalid.
I tried repeating the process from scratch on 3 occasions (over several hours), and it always gives me the same code.
It always says it is invalid.
I am definitely typing it in correctly, but have even tried the obvious mistakes like confusing a 0 with an O. Upper case/lower case etc...
It just doesn't work.
Anyone else tried yet? I'll call them tomorrow I guess, was just interested.

I hope you're just signing up for the free £10 and not to actually use it on a daily basis as they charge 25p per balance enquiry or something like that via the mobile site.0

I'm a moneysavingexpert dont you know. :money:
Closing my account soon anyway, so its only for the free tenner.
I called them and they say they are having issues with the type of mobile I am using (Nokia 6280), but it sounds like utter rubbish to me.
At no point do you even specify your mobile type, and I can still receive the code OK. It is their website that rejects it.
It wouldnt make a difference what phone they sent it to, I'd still get the same text and the same code (unless it was a different mobile number or I typed in different DOB/email/name details).
Never mind. They said they are looking into it.0 -
The solution is, should anyone else face the same problem:
Text "BANK" to 84447
That is antoher way of starting the process off, which seems to work better.0 -
Do you need an internet mobile to participate in this offer? We've A&L accounts (for making money out of referrals
) but only have very basic text and talk phones. Would like to register and then just ignore and manage the account online

Yes, you need a relatively recent mobile that is capable of handling java applications (so it would probably have a colour screen and a camera.. although this is a rather silly way of determining it).
See the A&L website for a complete list of supported phones.
Got mine set up now. Just waiting for them to post something and I'll make a quick transaction. Once the tenner is in (and halifax complete the switching process... which is in its 9th week and counting), I'll close the account.0 -
I've signed up for it (just for the tenner!). Am waiting for something to come from A&L - I believe its some sort of code.0

Is the 6280 symbian based Sillychuckie?
I can't get my Nokia 6600 to connect. The app is installed but whenever I try to connect to Monilink I get a "connection failed" and it tells me my phone may require changes to it's settings.
My GPRS settings (Orange) are all ok as far as I know (I can connect to the web ok with it). The help pages on the Monilink website are pretty useless."A nation of plenty so concerned with gain" - Isley Brothers - Harvest for the World0 -
I'm having the same problem as many of you as well - I'm using a Sony Ericsson W800i on Virgin.
'Tis bloody annoying!!FB :heartpuls Wiggly

I give up with this, can't get the thing to work! It keeps telling me I have to redownload the service but when I try texting BANK to 84447 I get no response.
Has anyone actually got the service up and running?0 -
Hi,
Yes I did manage to set the the phone up and get a balance. I must say it did not seem the easyiest thing to get going.
Today I noticed that I also got a £10 credit to my account. So I guess it was worth the hassle.
