30 day list

Well I read on the forum somewhere about making a 30 day list. This is a list to help you stop spending. I took up the challenge and it worked so I thought I'd share it again.

Basically if you want to buy something, add it to the list with the date. In 30 days time you look at the list and if you still want it, buy it. This stops impulse shopping. I did it thinking 'I'll still want them in 30 days' but here's my results...

My list

23rd Aug. book called 'ishi's brain' £15
23rd Aug. corner stand for the bath £10
23rd Aug. winter coat £30-40

So the book sounds like a good read but I have too many books as it is.... So that's crossed off.

I don't actually need a stand in the corner of my bath as my shampoo and conditioners sits in the corner just fine on their own.... So that's crossed off.

I actually do need a winter coat as sorted out my winter clothes and haven't got a warm one.

Saved £25 of spending I can't afford!

My new list

23rd Sept. Winter boots
23rd Sept. coat hangers
23rd Sept. door mat
23rd Sept. Q10 cream

    23rd Sept. Winter boots
23rd Sept. coat hangers - most clothes shops around here will give you some for free if your not fussed on colour...an idea maybe x
    23rd Sept. door mat
    23rd Sept. Q10 cream

great idea to do a list like that. An mse idea for you...see above about coat hangers x
  • Great idea...

I am going to do this myself as I feel like I need a new winter coat, scarf, hat, gloves and boots!!!

I am going to give it 30 days and see if I still feel like I need all this! (although I think the boots are a must as mine are wrecked)

haha I like it...'I feel like I need...'

I might rename my list to that.:rotfl:

As for coathangers...I never thought about asking in shops. Thanks Sunshineangel. I bet some will be glad to get rid of them. I'll still wait until I've cleared out my wardrobe though incase I already have enough.

Sara_77, you're right, the Q10 could be bought cheaper...I've always gone with the nivea brand...costs about £10 in boots. I suppose I could buy quite a few from home bargains. :)

I'm still thinking I need a door mat (for the winter weather) but got awhile to go before I 'can' buy it.

And I'm already wondering if I actually need those winter boots....I walk from my front door to the drive, then park in work's carpark and walk 4/5 metres to work....hmmm

Determined new ms.....I'm adding PJs to my list too. I'm hoping when I sort my clothes that I actually need them :D
  • Avoid buying the door mat, Do you have a section of carpet left over, lying in the attic maybe, cut a square from it and use as a mat.

Just sold a broken lawnmower and strimmer for £30 lol, happy days!!!!
