CREDIT CARD for use in USA

Hi just looking for a little assistance,
We are looking to go to new York and florida this year and I am looking at getting a card for those impulse luxury item purchases...
I am looking at cards available with 0% on Overseas transaction etc but I wanted to know if it is possible to also get 0% on purchases for 12months , purchases made in the states?
I'm not sure if this is possible as everytime I search for best oversea transaction rates it doesn't how 0% on purchases and vicer versa.
If it is not possible to get 0% on both overseas transaction and purchases in the first 12 months would you be able to recommend which offer would be better to go for?
Many thanks.

When I last looked, the Post Office CC offered 3 months on purchases and is also zero loaded.
So you could use a PO card and if after 3 months you can't pay off the balance then apply for a traditional BT card. You'll probably pay a 3% fee for the transfer, but that won't be any worse that the forex loading on a conventional CC. Plus hopefully the 3% won't be on all of your spend (because you paid some off) and whatever BT deal you get it will be on top of the 3 months from PO.
My suggestion - resist the impulse!!
PS bear in mind there is a risk you could be turned down for the second card!0 -
Thanks for that, the post office cc doesn't come up on the comparison sites so I hadn't thought of it.
( also what is a BT card ? , sorry if I'm being stupid.
I was thinking, not sure if this would get around the issue of having a little extra spending if needed, but if I was to get one of the 0% on purchases for 12month cards and used that to book and pay for the hotel and car hire would that work?
Thanks for your help it is much appreciated.0 -
Just a little reminder that quite a few restaurants in New York only take American Express, so if you don't have one like me, make sure you have cash.0

Not at all! BT here just means balance transfer. So by BT card I meant a card with a promotional BT offer - eg 0% for 12 months (typically a 3% fee).0 -

Been really helpful already but has anyone had a think about the above quote to see if that would work out or would I be charged for paying for something overseas?
