Hi just looking for some advice - sold a shower curtain with hooks last week, packaged well and sent 1st class. Buyer sends nasty email staying curtain is stained and all hooks broken. Royal mail had re bagged parcel with label saying sorry,
Buyer says stains must have been on before sending - completely untrue! I asked for pics and got them.
Now rm insure parcel upto £46, buyer paid £21, how do I claim via RM? Is it worth the hassle Im expecting??
Many thanks

hopefully someone will correct me if i'm wrong....but RM will want proof of what you paid for it not what it sold for....so they will want the cost of the item when you bought it. you can claim for the amount. Also they will want the item if they are going to compensate for it.
That's what i had to do a couple of years ago. I sold something for more than i bought it but had to provide an invoice for what i paid for it.
And they will only pay a max of £46ish....but as many will tell you...RM don't always pay out0 -

oh and they will want the original packaging so you will need the buyer to return all of that to you....including the RM bag with the sorry label0 -

If packaging has been destroyed RM might also argue that it was not good enough. So as others have said you will need to show you used good strong plastic tamper proof, or other strong packaging that could not easily be torn or damaged.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think this only applies for business sellers.
I did a claim this time last year & claimed for the sold price, not what I paid for it.0 -
You should claim the lower of purchase price or selling price. For business sellers this is usually the purchase price and for private sellers the selling price.RainbowDrops wrote: »I think this only applies for business sellers.

Maybe rules have changed.....I'm not a business seller and had to prove how much I paid for it. Was well over a year ago.0
