Sounds very public sector, is this a final salary scheme out of interest?0 -

I am private sector, I contribute the max at 6% and the company contributes 10%, this is not a final salary scheme. Blue chip companies often do good contributions because when negotiating your package a good pension is quite attractive to many. Bonuses are even more attractivedepending on structure of course but the majority of the blue chip companies I have worked for offer similar pension arrangements - although 13.x% is higher than most I agree.

UPDATE:
So I got paid yesterday and have also rejigged a few things.
* I have applied for a Santander 123 account to use to pay bills and did it via topcashback for the £55.55 cashback.
* I have also applied for the Nationwide FlexAccount so that I can get access to the 6% account and will pay £250 in there once opened.
* £300 will go into the FD 8% as per the SO.
* The N&P will be used for my Pound a Day/2 Pound a Day/Bonus account - by bonus, I mean the fiver from Halifax each month and the £100 FD bonus.
* My Glastonbury fund will be paid into the Santander 3%.
* I have put in a pound in to the First Direct eSaver to make sure I don't fall foul of the £10 fee.
* I transferred in the required £1000 to qualify for the Halifax fiver. Ker-ching.
* My salary was transferred to FD so I should get the £100 bonus. Easyswitch is currently happening and I opened the account a few weeks ago - when will the bonus be paid? Is it after three months?
* My ISAs are also sitting pretty in their respective accounts.0 -
Really should have one because it really helps monitor daily expenses...0
