Hi,
I havent really posted before so hope that i have asked this in the correct place.
I currently have all my transactions since 2009 and i would like to try to reclaim my charges back as i fall into the hardship category 100 per cent.
Anyway what charges can i try to claim back as on my statements i have two that are always next to each other:
1) Debit Interest (which is normally around £25
2) Pre-Notified fees and charges (either £25, £75 or £150)
Also do i need to list them on a spreadsheet or include the statements with the fee's highlighted (or both)?
Thank you so much. Hope i get some of these back as i have been on maternity leave and really was in a vicicious cycle of constantly having fees applied etc.
Has anyone had much luck with HSBC?
Thanks a lot xxxx

There's a brilliant article written by MSE that explains most you need to know about attempting to reclaim bank charges.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges
You should find the answer there.
If not, there was a very recent thread asking about reclaiming interest here. Should be enlightening.

What exactly were the £75 and £150 fees for that HSBC charged you?
Is that right, you've been on maternity leave since 2009??? :huh:0 -
Thanks for your reply - i will have a look on that thread.
The fees that are £75.00 and £150 are all listed as fees and charges which seems so high!! The interest is listed seperatly.
Regarding Mat leave, no i havent been on mat leave since 2009. Basically i was on mat leave for a year and have gone back to work part-time instead of full-time so that my baby isnt in childcare full-time.

So high for what?
If you don't know what they relate to, you can ask the bank to explain, although I'm not sure why, especially if you were in the financial hardship you claim, you didn't question the application of these unrecognisable charges at the time they were applied ... or better still, notified.0 -

They seem high for charges for going over my over-draft.
Not sure why you assume that i didnt question them at the time as i did numerous times and i also went to visit my branch and had a meeting as recently as 4 months ago (i have name and date of each person i spoke to) but, i was in a horrible financial position and feeling quite a vunerable and ended up burying my head in the sand (wrongly i know). Since then i am (thanks to some inheritance) completly debt free (apart from mortgage) and feel like i can tackle my bank now as i feel that the charges were contributing to my awful financial situation at the time.0 -

In your OP you saidI currently have all my transactions since 2009 and i would like to try to
reclaim my charges back as i fall into the hardship category 100 per cent
Those two statements are contradictory.
If you are currently not in hardship, as your last post indicates, then you have no basis for a claim.0 -
What i meant is that when i was having all these charges that i fell into the hardship category and i thought that would still be grounds to claim back some of the charges (or attempt to). If not then thats fair enough but, i was under the impression that at the time when i was in hardship and these charges were put on then i could try and claim them back.
Goodness - you money-savers are a friendly/welcoming bunch - lol!!0
