I for don't applaud henlans pushing the system to the max. Being honest about it is actually one of the problems.
With car boot sales, the potential for resale gain is huge.
Its not nosey to point out that income needs to be declared nor rude to do so. Some might say it was exactly the right thing to do. Noone asked for henlans details to my knowledge.

So - can we move on? can we?

I think you need to be careful what you say on a public forum.
Anyone buying goods with the intention of re-selling them is running a business....regardless of any profit or loss made. You can still be self employed and also work for an employer. You will still have to declare your 'earnings' to the Inland Revenue although in your case it will be a 'loss' and no income tax will be due. The unfortunate thing then is that you will also need to declare the income from your everyday job/pension/interest from banks etc.
I know because I run an ebay business and have a regular part time job but declare all income...mainly because I think is the correct thing to do and also because I want to sleep at nights:D

the store is a nightmare localish for me also if you are able to go to others me and a friend havent had any problems or questions makes such a change - cribbs+bedminster are fine
i think the store does look out for people doing the apg shops we were being watched and different staff watching bits in our trolleys alot easier shopping in a different store
