Going on holiday?

Hi all, wonder if you could give me some advice please.

I'm going on holiday in 4 weeks times, for 2 weeks. Should I therefore stop entering comps which end during that time? I'm thinking about if I win - I know the post office will keep items for a while but what about couriers?

What do you all do?
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who posts comps

Personally, I would carry on regardless. If a comp ends during that time, it might be that you won't get your prize for 28 days. It's not impossible for you to win something and miss out because you aren't available to respond, or take in a parcel, but I wouldn't sacrifice lots of potential wins for fear of missing out on one or two. Besides, I don't think the timings are really that exact. You could do a comp that ends today, which they might still send while you're away.

  • I've had competition wins turn up months after a competition has ended, others turn up the next day so you may as well keep entering :) If you find out that you've won something just before you go you could always ask the company not to send it until you're back (i've done this before)

No, if you have time between the packing, carry on!
As other posters have said- companies vary enormously about how quickly- or slowly, they send prizes
Mr GB won a cheesecake and they wanted to deliver it the day we went away, so I simply asked them to leave it another week- they were more than happy to oblige. In fact, it arrived still frozen, so I was able to pop it in the freezer for when we have adored ones here :)

My Daughter had a red card put through her door on the day she went on Holiday last year. She was away for 12 days and when she got back she went to the Post office to collect whatever it was and it had already been returned to the sender. She couldn't contact them because as it was a prize she had no idea who it was from.

  • Unless its a recorded item post office are supposed to keep an item for three weeks before returning it to sender

That's what we thought too, but it had gone before 2 weeks were up. He said at holiday times they hadn't got room to keep everything. Doesn't make sense does it?

  • was looking exactly for this answer and it's helped me perfectly.

Just a thought though, what if it is email wins and you have to confirm within a certain time? I guess you risk losing out right?

    Thanks

I went on holiday a few weeks ago & stopped doing dailies that ended towards the end of my holiday (mainly because I would have so few entries compared with other people) . I came home to one red card (some cocktail mixers) a few pieces of post & one wem. I know there is one comp ending soon (thinking it's the lacoste daily) that picks all winner one one day & then gives them 48hrs to reply - so I would avoid that if you're away then.

  • I think you should carry on comping but look forward to and enjoy your holiday without the comping being an obsession.
