npower fixed 11
I have been with npower fo about 4 years now, and really getting cheesed off with them . it seems every time they send my e bill my payments rise. this time they have gone from £131 to £175.thats nearly £2000 a year for a 3 bed semi.In april i phoned them and told them i was struggling to pay, so they said it would be easier to go on a fixed rate . so i went ahead on fixed 11 ,and now the have put my payments up.it f)(*&^ me off. Consult a comparison site, perhaps?
Apart from that, reduce consumption?0 -

Just some thoughts ....
If I was in your position I'd start taking meter readings at least once/day and find out what items/days/times are consuming most of the energy in order to understand my consumption profile .... get yourself an energy monitor before next weekend and use it - turn absolutely everything in the house off and see what each item uses as you progressively turn them back on .... if you are still consuming power at a high level with everything off then it's possible that you have a meter or wiring problem ...
Do you have cavity & loft insulation ?? ... if not this is your priority - do it now, before the weather gets any colder .... what is your heat source, is it old & inefficient ? ... if it's an old gas boiler look at changing it ... if it's electric, do you use E7 or simply heat using daytime rates ?? .... What temperature is it within the house ? - have you turned the thermostats down ? ... do you have low energy lighting ?? ... do you heat water with electricity at daytime rates ??
Lots of thoughts, but what you do with them is really up to you ... spending >£2000/year on energy in a standard 3 bed semi-detached property, chances are that the energy provider isn't that much to blame unless it's a faulty meter ...
You can start to make a difference this evening if you really want to ...
