I need a new heater but i am confused!

hi,
My bedroom does not have a radiator in it and is a top floor attic conversion so gets very very cold and i wanted to buy a new heater for it but am confused by all the options.
I was looking at oil free radiators as i kept reading they are 'eco friendly' and have lower running costs but then i read on some old forum posts that this is not the case and people shouldnt spend the extra money on these types.
Can anyone tell me what type of heater would be best and whether its true that certain types are cheaper to run?

Thankyou

All electric heaters of equal output cost the same to run. There's no such thing as an 'eco' electric heater.

Any convector heater with thermostat will do the job, they give instant heat, but go cold as soon as they are turned off. An oil filled takes longer to heat up, but stays warmer longer.

Dimplex and de longhi are two well known brands.

I tend to heat one room as I can't afford to use the central heating too much. Initially we used halogen heaters but they're terrible. The bars kept breaking, we had 3 heaters and none of them worked for more than a few months. Also they are very hot if you're right in front of them but on't seem to have much impact on the whole room.
We bought a convector heater to try and it is fantastic. It quickly takes the edge off the cold and is very effective at heating the whole room, and we have big rooms. It was pretty cheap to buy as well and I'm happy enough with the running costs that I'll leave it on most of the time.
I've never tried oil filled radiators so can't comment on those.
Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!
