The great chicken house scam (change from iphones)

There is a seller on ebay offering plastic chicken houses for £49.99 buy now with immediate payment. They have also copied and pasted identical listings form other sellers, including photos. These houses are nearly £400 new and often fetch £250 second hand. They have already sold 5 and they must have been paid for. Look at item number 330798120076 and then check out sellers other items. They have listed 50 of each model and also 50 sets of table and chairs. I have reported them but as its Sunday I doubt ebay will respond until tomorrow, if at all.

I can't see what the seller hopes to make out of this, assuming people are paying safely with paypal they will be covered if item doesn't arrive.

  • This is definately odd - a too good to be true sale if you ask me. Glad to see you have reported it to ebay and what they do about it.

I like the way they are selling the table and chair set for £49.99 with delivery by 2nd class recorded delivery - bet the postie wouldn't be too happy carry this set around in his post bag!!

Yes I noticed that, I recon that gave them the idea. With paypal transfers only taking 2 hours now they could clear a couple of grand by morning!
  • Looks like ebay have pulled the items off as cannot find any of them on there anymore - well done ebay :T

Although in theory PayPal transfers can be done in two hours, they have always applied a 21 hour hold to my withdrawls (and I'm not doing anything dodgy!).

Has anyone had any cash withdrawls that actually got to their account within a few hours, rather than the full 21 hours?
  • Yes, me- twice over the weekend I had the money in my bank account within a couple of hours. It was wonderful!
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

The only time I've redrawn money from Paypal since it's changed over to 2-hour transfers is that I got £15 into my account within an hour, although that was from a couple survey sites and not ebay.

It's wonderful, redraw the money in the money to pay for the postage charges from.

Mine started going in to my bank almost instantly this past weekend. About an hour or two is all it takes now.

Yes. I had a buyer last week who paid by echeque. It took a week to for this to clear, but when I withdrew the money from paypal they did it by fast payment, and the money was in my bank account in a couple of hours.
