9p Amazon Charge

I have been checking my online statements which I do regularly and have noticed 9p has been sent to amazon for a "digital download". I do have a kindle and do use this card for amazon purchases but definitely haven't bought anything costing 9p. I've checked in my amazon account in case I was having memory issues. Is this evidence of fraudulent activity? I'm clearly not bothered about 9p but I am bothered if it means someone has my card details. Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm abroad at the moment so can't really call my CC provider for advice.

Could be a test purchase to see if the card is active by a fraudster, particularly as Amazon does not use the card security code or the 3Dsecure system.
Best to ring the card co as it is possibly a prelude to making a much larger purchase. They will probably replace the card so you may be without it if you are outside the UK.
You'll need to explain you are abroad as there are usually forms to fill in. You should even get your 9P back :-)0 -
Yes, at least get a call logged. Note the details - time, date and person you spoke to.0

Do you have any subscriptions related to any kindle purchase. Such as a newspaper?
Does this show in ypur amazon acc, or have you got any emails from amazon about this purchase?
TBH. If a fraudster had compromised your amazon acc. They would have bought something for more than 9p as they don't need any tester transactions.
Same in that if they had your card details they would have bought something much larger.
Given you checked online. Can you send them a message. Although checking with amazon would be my 1st point of call.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
I think this 9p is for something you have downloaded to your Kindle.0

Have you had any documents sent to your Kindle via e-mail. These cost.
Check your e-mail, all Kindle purchases, even free ones, have an e-mail sent to you about them.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

Did you have any promo/offer credits? Maybe you bought something that with your promotional balance applied would be 9p? For example, Amazon often give a £1 credit for digital downloads with CD purchases.
I often forget I have them as you get a brief notice on the order page, then they will just turn up in your account and sit there until you buy a relevant product. There's no screen to view promotional balances, so I'm usually surprised when they're applied to an order. This is everybody's fault but mine.0 -
They would require the security code if the card hasn't been used before on that Amazon account. A fraudster could not just add somebody's card to their own Amazon account, so Amazon isn't a markedly easier place to use a stolen card than anywhere else.

Just to add, Amazon never asks for the 3 digit security code (For Visa or MC) or the 4 digit code for Amex cards. Only the card number and expiration date is needed, even when first adding it.0 -
There are definitely NO transactions in my amazon account. I took the advice and called the provider to cancel the card. All very odd....Sealed Pot Challenge #239

Amazon is one of the preferred suppliers for fraudsters, so as soon as ANY unrecognised transactions appear from there, report the card for suspected fraudulent activity.0
