Information on Non Standard Construction houses

Hello House Experts,

Couple of questions: we've seen a house that states "suitable for cash buyers due to construction" doesnt state only cash buyers and so we're thinking about viewing.

After researching online I think it must be a non standard construction which will make it difficult to obtain a mortgage and/or insurance.

Questions
Difficult to get a mortgage is a little vague - Is it impossible, how much deposit would you need if you were to get a mortgage and what would I need to ask when viewing to know why its non standard construction?

What would we need to do to get it to standard construction? Would it have to be rebuilt or what is the deal with that? Anyone any ideas of a rough guestimation of the costs involved in that and would this be possible on a semi-detached property (ie what would happen to the conjoining wall)

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm obviously not going to bother with it if its going to be too problematic but equally I do not want to miss out if its doable because of lack of knowledge.

    Depends entierly what the construction & associated "issues" are. For example, in the west country some properties are built from mundic block which can make a property completely unmortgageable (as lenders are not keen on houses that can fall down).
