New Bed, Advice Needed

Hi Guys,
We bought a new bed last year from what is now Benson for Beds. It was a Sealy and we thought we had bought a good bed that would do us for years but apparently there has been a lot of the same model being returned under their guarantee, ours now being one of them
So now I can go next week and pick a new bed, any make or model up to the value we paid or I can put a few pound to it.
I have pains all over due to fibro so a good bed is a must, that is why I am seeking advice from all you smart people!
Our last bed, ten years old, was a open coil with a layer of memory foam. It was a basic range bed but it was fantastic so I would like to go for memory foam again.
Does anyone have any views on Bensons own brand Sensafoam and also how many springs should a king size bed have? Should we pay a bit more and go for a pocket sprung?
Many thanks in advance for any help or advice

If you like memory foam, then why don't you just get a slatted bedstead and a memory foam matteress.
I got a bedstead from the Original Bedstead Company and a Tempur mattress and would highly recommend both.0 -
When I was looking for a new bed last year, I tried a Tempur mattress. Made me a bit queasy as it seemed to take forever to stop sinking into it. I kept going back to it just in case I got used to it, but didn't.
I went for pocket sprung with latex on top - it's supposed to be less hot than memory foam, but I don't actually know if that's the case or not. It is very comfortable though and I would thoroughly recommend this type of mattress.
I had a water bed before that - also very comfy and I'd recommend one of those too. Very nice getting into it on a cold winters night.0 -
Having been foam mattress fans previously, we recently bought a Dunlopillo divan bed from Bensons. It's lovely - very comfy and supportive. It's latex topping with foam underneath (they do different firmnesses and ours is the most firm of the range) as latex is supposed not to retain heat in the same way as memory foam. It's still very supportive and supposedly very long-lasting.
So if you are looking in Bensons, I'd definitely recommend Dunlopillo (get the pillows too if you can, they are amazing!).0 -
If you can stretch to a Dunlopillo bed to can afford a waterbed.
Used in hospitals for burns patients to stop any pressure points, temperature controlled on a thermosat, top cover comes off for washing, never goes lumpy, never needs turning.
Most of all bliss to lie on and drift into sleep.
My wife suffers M.E and was sleeping 18 hours a day when really bad, zero pressure sores and she says most comfortable in the world.
Don't dismiss the idea, try and find one in a shop and give it a good test. But don;t lie there rocking like most idiots do when trying one. You don;t sleep by moving your body like a fish out of water!Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
Do Bensons sell water beds? Think the OP needs something they stock in order to get the refund. Looking on the Bensons website I can't see one.
The Dunlopillo we got was "made exclusively for Bensons" which basically means its a cheaper version as it's not latex all the way through. Double divan and mattress with 4 drawers costs £1000. Not sure you can get a great water bed for that.0 -
Sorry, my apologies.
Bensons do not sell waterbeds, so much for a being a great bed company.
I've reread OP.
Pocket count 1000 or above up to 2000. Anymore then 2000 is a waste of time as all they do is double decker the springs. 1500 on top of 1500 will create a slightly different feel to 1500 on it's own as the underneath spring will act as a shock abserber. But the cost involved far exceed and benefit.
My other advice is make sure the bed isn't too firm, if it's too hard the mattress will push back at you in the wrong places, hips and shoulders and create pressure points, which therefore can create pain.
Normally a gentler mattress will allow the body to relax and achieve full length body support.
Sorry I have no knowledge of Bensons own brands.
Exclusively made for Bensons normally means yeap you can't find the same model anywhere else to get a price comparison. Therefore they can put whatever margin onto the product they like.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
yes i agree get a memory foam mattress not just a topper & then a bed frame you likeI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
