i have a couple of missed credit card payments over the last 2 years which is affecting my Credit score - if i was to pay the card off in full, would this help to mend my score?

Hmm....I doubt it would... it will just count as a closed/settled account.

paying off in full makes financial sense
using the card regularly and paying in full and on time will (slowly) enhance your credit rating0 -
Cheers.

Just got an experian report - very poor
I presume that's a credit score that they have sold you?
If it is, and you're disappointed with it, then feel free to send me £20 and I will be happy to send you a credit score of "very good".
Of course, I don't lend money. So my score will be a meaningless waste of time, just like the one you got from Experian.
And, please forgive my incredulity here, if you can afford to pay the CC balance off in full, why on God's Earth wouldn't you do that straight away?Optimists see a glass half full

I've been out of work for 18 months and only just back into employment - I'm looking at paying it off at the minute at around £80 a month (£500 balance) but may try and get it done quickerhelpful tips

But the OP has late/missed payments so you giving them a very good score makes your score of very good completely useless and not a true reflection of his late credit card payments where Experian took his late payments in hence the very poor credit score.0 -

Point taken Bugsy - I'd probably have to up that charge to £30 then if the OP wants a "very good".Optimists see a glass half full
