Santander zero debit/credit cards

Just wondering if anyone knows offhand what the benefits of the zero current account and zero credit card are, as it's no longer on the website.

My wife has both, but with only a £500 limit on the CC. She also has a few other CCs with £500 limits, but just got a much better limit from a bank, so wants to close some down.

Are there any benefits (besides Section 75 etc.) from the zero CC that aren't available when using the zero debit card?

I used the Zero CC for cash overseas. No loading and no fees - just interest from the date of withdrawal. Not much if you pay off promptly.

I have no idea if the debit card is also fee free. If it is, many would say you should use the debit card in foreign ATMs (no interest that way). Also people speculate that having cash advances on your CRA record can be negative.

BUT personally I don't like using debit cards overseas (or even in the UK). It gives access to MY money. Even though mistakes can be fixed, it can take time and isn't easily done if you are travelling. In the meantime, all sorts of important payments could be stopped by a cleaned out current account. I much prefer to stick a CC in the hole and pay a bit of interest.

For similar reasons, I use CCs for purchases, not debit cards. The only time I would use a debit card is if using a CC attracts an extra fee. But even then, I would often pay the fee - especially if it gets me S75 protection.
