MY friend hada car accident in July. Her insurance company too weeks to do anything. Her car was a 7 seater car and they gave her a 5 seater car they said they dont have to give like for like.
Now coming up to 14 days they are asking for the car back and no decision has been made on her car.
Can they do this? who can she contact for advice?

If the accident was her fault and her policy terms and conditions state a "courtesy car" will not be like for like and is only available for a period of 14 days there won't be much she can do.
If the accident was not her fault, but her insurers are still going to take the car from her before agreeing a payout/ repairs (assuming that she is behaving herself and not delaying the claim by not sending them information or documents) then she may be able to obtain a vehicle from either the insurers of the party that caused the accident (assuming liability is not in dispute) or use an accident management company or credit hire firm to sort her with one.
Her insurers will have a complaints procedure she will need to follow. There will probably be information on how to do this on her policy documents or on the insurer's website.0 -
Can you give us more information.
You mention an accident in July but that your 14 day car cover is up ?
Who are you insured by ?
Are you claiming off your own Insurance or are you with someone like Admiral who have palmed you off on a ropey claims company like Albany0 -
It sounds like they have the car under their own policy on an "enhanced"/"guaranteed" courtesy car which is why they have something better than a corsa or fox. These unlike a traditional courtesy car come from a hire car company, you get them irrespective of fault/ if the cars repairable etc but they do have a maximum duration (eg 14 days)
If it was a non-fault accident that caused the damage and the TP and their insurer is known then it would be sensible to approach the TPI to ask them to provide a more suitable vehicle (assuming they do have 4 kids or such to actually need 7 seats rather than just wanting them)0
