    Not a chance unless they're feeling generous If it were 18,000 town miles then the engine would've been running longer than 18,000 motorway miles for example:

    18,000 town miles at an average speed of 20MPH = 900hrs.

    18,000 motorway miles at an average speed of 60MPH = 300hrs.

    Bloomin' interesting point. Never looked at it like that. And think about all the time stuck in traffic. Engine running but zero miles travelled.

    Yep. It is commonplace on stuff like forklift trucks etc to have a gauge that indicates engine run hours and they're serviced on run hours rather than distance travelled, even on road going ones.
