Not really moneysaving related but hoping some like minded animal lovers can offer me some comfort!
I went on holiday recently and my Mum looked after our Border Collie. When we got back Mum had noticed she was messing and chewing her back paw a lot. I looked and the is an extra lump. (Looks a bit like an extra pad, just pink).
I took her straight to the vets, they are removing it on Monday.
I know it's for her own good, but I'm going to feel so guilty on Monday when I drop her off and leave her in the pen! The whole family thinks the world of her and I'm terrified it's cancer!

Such a worry for you. How old is she? Hopefully it'll be something harmless like a cyst that'll be easily removed.
Sending you hugs.0 -
She's 7. Thanks hun. Never had to take her vets before, other than for vaccinations.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

I am sure she will be fine. They are tough little cookies. Fingers and everything crossed and please let us know how she gets on.

Thanks. I just feel so guilty because she hates it. I know it's necessary, but you just can't explain to an animal!I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

Fingers crossed that it's nothing sinister.
Chino had a small lump on the outside corner of his eye that had to be removed.
I was also so scared that it was cancerous but it turned out to be a sebaceous gland.
After a day to get over the anaesthetic he was fine. I'm sure your border collie will be too.0 -
Hi everyone. Thanks for your words of comfort. She's had the op and is now home with me. We're both curled up on the sheepskin rug. I want her against me so I can feel her breathe. She's still drowsy from the anesthetic so sleepy and tired. The vet said she gobbled a whole bowl of post op food so she must be ok if she's eating!
Her leg is all bandaged up with a bag over it as it's raining. It's the collar I hate! She looks uncomfortable.
Going back Weds for a dressing change. Bought her a pack of chicken portions as the vet says she has to have bland food.
Just hope they don't come back as cancerous. They found another lump slightly further up her leg so they took that off too.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

Chances are it's a benign cyst, but even if it's something more the op could still have sorted it all out with no further problems.
Mutt had to have 4 lumps removed off various parts of her anatomy, 2 of which turned out to be mast cell tumours (a type of cancer.) But they removed all of it when they removed the lumps, it never came back in any form and she ended up living for a good few years after.
So try hard not to worry and give her a huge cuddle. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Thank you. She was ok in herself before the op so fingers crossed!I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
