Received a text from 07503397057 telling me that I may not have to pay my debts, all I had to do was text back. Needless to say I haven't, nor have I text back to stop further texts in case it somehow costs me money (yes, I know I have a suspicious mind).
Anyone know who this lot are?

I get these type of messages all the time, love the ones telling me that they know i have had an accident and can claim..I've never had an accident!!!
I have no idea where these people get numbers from, but if they want to waste their money thats there problem.0 -
Definitely on no account text back. Not only in case it costs you money but it also confirms your number to them and guarantees more messages.0

How can I stop receiving messages from these organisations?
You can report them to your network operator, who may be able to prevent further spam from the originating number. Unfortunately as the numbers often change, your network provider cannot guarantee to stop all unsolicited messages. You can either contact your network operator’s customer services, or forward spam text messages to 7726 (If you are a Vodafone user, forward to 87726 instead).
I've started reporting spam (as above)
Some people suggesting texting STOP but that could make spammers aware your number is active and you get more!!!0 -
Its just another scam. If you reply they will call saying that for a 10% fee they will wipe your debts.
eg: You have £5000 debts.
You send them £500 for them to "wipe" your £5000 debts, they keep said £500 and you still owe your £5000 because there is no such thing as wiping debts.0 -
I only use my mobile for the odd call or text - a £20 top up lasts me about 6 months - and never, ever give my number out but I do still receive the odd text like this.
I just delete it, don't text them back asking them to stop.0 -
The only good thing about shysters like this is that they have to leave a number for you to reply.
Don't reply, of course.
I found The Information Commissioner's Office have pages on their website where you can complain about unsolicited 'phone and text messages.
Since signing my mobile and landline 'phone up to the Telephone Preference Service, I have had relatively few spam calls and texts - those I do get get the ICO treatment.
I get one maybe two a month now. Result. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I get these all the time. I often get fishing phone calls saying "their records suggest I have had a car accident in the last 3 years" and sound surprised when I tell them I haven't.
They are all just fishing for a response. The best thing you can do is ignore them.Thinking critically since 1996....0
