Recovery on Dell PC

Hi,
Have just got my new Dell PC running 32bit Vista and very impressed with it so far.
I see there is a Recovery Partition and I was wondering what's the best way to copy it, in the event of a recovery.
I have tried to copy and paste to a CD-R, but someone told me the best way forward was to use my Roxio CD Creation software. However, when I try using Roxio, it finds the partition but only Folders, and wont let me copy them unless I double click to open them up.
So, What's the best way forward?
Thanks in advance.

I don't understand your question?
In the event of a Recovery, you use the Recovery Partition, that's why it's there? You don't need to copy it anywhere? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

I was advised to "copy" the parition in the event of a disaster. So in effect, have a copy.
In order to have a copy i need to copy it to DVD or CDR disk, however, when I try to copy it, it onlyshows the folders.
Hope thats clearer?

I would "ghost" the whole disk
the Dell restore partition is only accessable via the MBR, in fact in Vista I'm not quite sure where the utilty is hidden ??Ex forum ambassador

What he means is if the hard drive needs replaced outside of gurantee the recovery partion is down the river . To save this either as dell for a restore disc or try backing up with Norton Ghost .0

The Recovery Partition contains a mirror image of your hard drive as it left Dell's factory.
If it's Vista you're running then, even if you could copy the Partition, it wouldn't fit onto a DVD as it'll be too big. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky

dos'nt ghost compress the image to it will span multiple disc's0

yes ghost spans multiple dvd's and compresses. A clean Dell should ghost onto two DVD'sEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
