Health problems because of mould in flat - can we end tenancy?

    This is impossible.

    You always are contracted with the landlord. However, the landlord is NOT necessarily the person who owns the building. Usually it is, but sometimes a building can be sublet so that the ultimate landlord is not the landlord of the occupying tenant.

    However, you need to distinguish this from a landlord and agent situation. An agent may represent the landlord in all respects, including signing an agreement. But they are not the landlord, merely his legal representative.

    Without the OP clarifying exactly which situation they are in, we cannot really be more specific about what to do next.

    Is the university accommodation services department;

    a) the landlord of the OP
    b) the agent of the the landlord of the OP
    c) merely an 'approver' of the landlord of the OP

    The OP needs to read what it says right at the front of the tenancy agreement and come back to us.
