in Credit cards
Hi all,
I've just returned from holiday and my bag was stolen with my iphone and ipod in. I have since found out that my phone isn't covered and can't find a receipt for the ipod! So was looking at getting at 0% on purchases card to buy a new iphone for 6 months so I can pay it off. I looked at Tesco's recent deal which has 16 months, but was declined. They told me I didn't meet the minimum credit scoring. I'm assuming its because I do contract work and started my new job in April? I should have a good credit score as I have had a loan for 5 years and never missed a payment which finished last year. I took out a new one for 3 years when this finished with no problems.
Any suggestions on cards or what else i could try?
Thanks in advance!

I got turned down for the tesco card too. I don't understand why since I then applied for the Barclaycard 22 month 0% deal and got it.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0

I think it might be as I started my job in April. I'm worried about applying elsewhere now incase I get rejected again. I need a good 0% deal like that but scared to apply now as I do not want loads of failed applications!0

You need to look on your credit files first before doing another application as you've failed Tesco's credit scoring for a reason.0

go on the nationwide site
and apply for their card choose of the 2 to suit you
it will give you a qoute half way through
now what it comes back with will depend on if it goes through
if its 19.9 and 500 limit do not click accept it will probably decline
if its 15.9 and anything from 1500 - 5000 it will probably go through
it does a soft search only at the qoute stage and wont leave a full search unless you click accept
BTW credit reference agencys do not have access to your work history so what you put in there does not matter so long as your not lieing such as your unemployed and you say your earning 30k that would be possibly fraud if you didnt pay the cardI am NOT a mortgage advisor nor a professional in any debt related matters my replies to posts reflect my personal view only and experience in life time situations that may or may not be of any use to you if you need advice speak to a professional0 -
I am in rented accommodation but have been here for a year. I have had 1 5yr loan which finished last year with no missed payments, and now have a 3 year loan which I am a year into, again no missed payments. I am on the electoral roll. What else could affect my scoring?
Which is the best company to use to get a copy of my credit history?0 -

What about a history of managing credit cards? as you are applying for a credit card.0 -

Try your own bank first as you may struggle with a decent 0% deal from anywhere else.0 -
for the last time
go on the nationwide site apply for a card you get a qoute before the full application this does not damage your credit rating
if it says no you have probably no chance of a 0% card as it uses experian and is a good benchmark to your status
