buying a car from e-bay

if i buy a car from e-bay what buyer protection do i have,bearing in mind most people want paid by cash

None. Seriously, None.
No paypal cover either. You see a car advertised on ebay, Go and look at it before even putting a bid on it, if it's too far, look closer to home.
If the seller demands a deposit via paypal at the end of the auction, remember, deposits are counted as an 'intangible item' and are not covered by paypal. (you can't claim it back if the car is a pile of junk)
If your not sure, ask someone. If the car is reasonably local to you, take someone withyou to inspect before bidding on it.
Ebay motors board on the community pages are helpful, but don't be scared of some of the posters, they are !!!!!cats really.0
