Receiving payment from Ebay > Paypal.

Hi all :)

I'm new to selling on Ebay, and have just got my first transaction, received the money straight away into my Paypal, and a message popped up above my funds saying;

Payment holds on your eBay transactions. we are working with eBay to make buying and selling even safer. As part of payment holds for new eBay sellers , we'll hold the money from your eBay transactions for up to 21 days.

Does that mean after 21 days I'll have access to the money or something? So easily confused.

Thanks all :D

  • i never had this when i was new but it does sound as though you have to wait that long before you have the money.

    i reckon they are doing this with new accounts in case someone sells something, takes the money and closes the account. They are probably just waiting to see if you are genuine.

    Hopefully someone who has had this happen to them will answer...i've had my ebay and paypal for many years now and i do recall waiting about 5 days to verify my account

    21 days is the longest you should have to wait.
    If your buyer leaves positive feedback or you have tracking to prove delivery you can upload this to release funds earlier.

  • I have this "hold" on my paypal a/c at the moment (only started selling a month ago), they release the funds "early" - before 21 days if buyer leaves positive feedback.

    I use tracked services but it makes no difference to release of funds, no matter what they say!

    I understand that my account will only have this hold for three months then they won't hold the funds after that - hope so because it is a pain being dependant on buyers leaving postive feedback, especially when 2/3 don't bother leaving feedback at all.
