I'm just looking for some advice on if I should stay or go with EDF.
What happened was that we moved house in April of this year. When we moved in here both the gas and electricity were on pre-payment meters with npower. I called up EDF and told them I wanted rid of the pre-payment meters and wanted to go onto their Blue tariff.
I was told that this would be no problem and it would take 4-6 weeks for everything to get sorted including having the meters changed out. This turns out to have been hopelessly optimistic as the gas meter was finally changed 2 days ago (5 months later!) and the electricity meter was changed at the beginning of August :eek:
I've already had EDF agree that I wouldn't lose out when I called them to book the gas meter change (This was just before the Olympics as apparently no meters could be changed while the games were on?!?) and that they would compensate me for being on pre-payment and they said that going onto the Blue scheme wouldn't be a problem when the meters had been changed.
Now, the issue is that the Blue tariff is no longer available, I've not called EDF yet to ask what they are going to do to put things right or if they will put me onto the Blue tariff even though it's discontinued. I'm just wondering if I should push for them to put me onto the Blue tariff or I should tell them to get lost and go to Scottish Power on the 2 year fixed deal they're running or if I should do something else.
Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm in the East Anglia region and use around 430 units of electricity a month, not sure on gas as we've not been here long so don't know how much we need to heat the house and didn't take meter readings on the pre-pay as we didn't think we'd be on it so long!

So, am I correct in assuming your property was being supplied by nPower, but you had not registered an account with them, instead calling a different supplier hoping they would switch your supply and change your meters?
If so, I'm not surprised it has taken 5 months. A switch of supplier alone takes typically 4-6 weeks, and a supplier won't change a meter unless they are your supplier.
Possibly yet another example of someone attempting to change supplier before they have registered with the existing supplier to their property, resulting in tears? Thanks. These type of cases are useful to reinforce the advice given by many forumites on this board.
You can't switch supplier unless you have a supplier. Attempting to do so invaribly ends in tears.0 -
You are already on EDF's Blue tariff from the date the leccy was Switched
Contact EDF to confirm this also now covers your gas, if doesn't make an offical Complaint0
