Have you herd of the "Green deal" which is to be rolled out soon?

The green deal is the new government initiative that is designed to help home owners to employ more green technologies in their properties. The idea is to install items like boilers with no upfront costs. You pay back the costs through your energy bill over a period of time. This is unlike a conventional loan because if you move out of your property the bill stays with the property where the savings are occurring and not with the bill payer.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

Many thanks again for those who responded. To answer some of your queries:

Unfortunately the old boiler is really dead because the boiler is broken and the part that is required is not produced anymore (have checked with three different plumbers) because the boiler is really old. The only thing I can do is replace it.

As for the location of the boiler, unfortunately, we can't move the boiler to anywhere else because the old boiler is in the cupboard and if we were to modify this, I think we need to get the landlord's approval (the flat is a long leasehold.)

The guy seems to know his way around our development and when I questioned his choice of the Keston and asked him to consider another brand (i.e. IDEAL Logic+) given the similarity, he seems know the differences in the flue pipes etc. So hopefully he is ok.

As for the green deal, I wasn't aware of this and so let me check this out. Manyt thanks!

    Thanks again for your responses.

Fair enough but have you checked online yourself? You'd be surprised how even really old boiler parts are still stocked somewhere. post up the model and the part required and I'm sure we will all have a go at seeing if it's still available somewhere. It's just that the fact that you need scaffolding therefore your cost is higher than normal means you should explore every avenue before committing to a new boiler imo.
