Carvery

I dont understand people who go to a certain well known carvery, get their plate filled with a wholesale costed yorkshire pudding of approximately 10 pence, and say they have had a yummy "meal" for £5.95 ?

Money Saving or what ??

  • No, but then again it is the experience you are paying for. I do not eat much meat, but for a joint etc it needs to be big and I cannot afford to pay £30 for a decent joint and waste my time cooking it. Hence, I go about once a month, with a voucher, and enjoy a decent meal, couple of wobbleades all for £20. And not only that, they do the washing up as well.

Heres a tip..........The Yorkshire is optional, you dont have to have it, Honest. Just get Veggies.

30 for a decent joint. How many you cooking for? Made the mistake of eating in one of the chain Carvery a couple of months ago. Never again. I like my meat to have seen an animal I can identify.

On the joint front about 8-12 pounds for our local butcher for 4.

Yes, I know, but for a decent joint instead of crag ends etc, you need a big piece of meat, that serves more than 4, hence why I go to the carvery.

We had lovely carvery whilst on holiday, for a fiver it was quite cheap in comparison to the majority of restaurants at a holiday destination. Not quite as cheap as a DIY carvery, but as its a holiday we have no complaints with paying the extra involved in having it prepared for us along with the service that goes with the experience.

In comparison to the £6 steak we got from the Butchers today, even before we bought the veggies to go with the cooking of it, we got a bargain at the carvery.
