floor help - paint, lino, re-tile

My kitchen floor has old white(now gray) and black tiles and am not sure what to do they are very stuck down so removing them isn't an option.
Is it possible to paint them?
can i put lino on top of them?
can i put new tiles over them?

Many thanks

Surely you just try harder removing them?

I'm no expert, but I'd say painting them will look rough and wear badly. I guess you could put tiles over, but might be a bit bodgeish. Lino would be OK. Might need some underlay.

What sort of house is it? Lino's can seem a bit cheap and nasty for higher quality properties.

If you haven't tried already, use a heavy metal shovel to slide under the tiles to lift them

or use a heat gun (gently) to heat them up and lift them with a scraper.
    Get some gorm.

the tiles don't have gaps between them well they do but its just enough to get a finger nail through there just rock solid I haven't seen anything like it before - its only a terrace house. I suppose lino might be the best option then.
