Thanks. Yes. Sorry if I sounded a bit off-I'm doing the stoptober thing and my family think I'm a bit of a stress head at the moment :o
Yes, I would like some help please. Meal planning, budgeting-i'm great with budgeting for other stuff but when it comes to grocery shopping i'm rubbish.:o It doesn't help that I work near a large supermarket.

Whats the stotober thing please, and dont worry about being a stress head, I get my knickers in a twist over the daftest thing lately, old age I think, in my case.

Anyway for help with menu planning can you post a list of what you have in and I am sure you will get lots of suggestions.

This will help you budget as well, because then you can see what you have and how many meals it will make,.

    Best wishes Meg

I spent £37.62 in Mr A yesterday but the thing that got me was I used my calculator as I went around and my total was £36.41 so something was incorrectly priced (I had DS with me and couldnt be bothered to try and figure out what was the item that was mis-priced but it just goes to show!
Please work out if you have been charged the wrong price for something. If you can prove it, then tell customer services when you're next there and they will give you a refund for the difference AND a gift card for £2 for their mistake. Ask for it if they don't automatically offer it. :)

I did the weekly shop yesterday - not too bad, but I'll update sig when I check the receipts :)

    At the moment we have:
    20 sausages
    2 lamb chops-frozen
    frozen chicken portions
    3 pizzas
    bacon
    eggs
2 x family size meat pies
    chips
    potatoes
    onions
    mushrooms
    salad
    frozen veg
    tins of:
    beans, tomatoes, spaghetti, soup
jars of curry sauce, pasta sauce

Well done for giving up :T It can't be easy while looking after a family as well. Feel free to post as often as you like, and ask for help. There's usually someone around. :D

10 sausages to make toad-in-the-hole (TITH) served with pots & frozen veg
2 pizzas with extra veg, with salad
Bacon pasta bake - use tinned mushroom/chicken/tomato soup - just not all together :o;)
    Meat pie, chips, frozen veg
Sausage casserole - use curry sauce?
Mushroom omelette with salad and pots/rice if you have any
Lamb chops/chicken portions, pots, frozen veg
Chips, beans, eggs, spaghetti - for the fussy teens?

That would do my family for a week or so. HTH :)
Sorry I'm not Delia, but others may have better suggestions.

If we went to friends and took wine - this would be out of our 'spending money' budget as like you say, it's entertainment. That way when you consider you had 2 nights out for £11.90, it makes you feel good!!!!
    I don't think you're clutching at straws!!!! :)
Do what works for you - that's the best advice I've read on here x

Very good point, two nights out for less than £12? That's not so bad after all!

Thanks so much for everyone's replies, I'm feeling better about it :o

Oooh, I want to do this next month. It's only too easy to slip extra luxuries in the basket so it'll be good to have something to help me focus :)

How do you lovely people fight the dreaded takeaway cravings?

I love your name for it! I don't have the answer I'm afraid but wanted to say you're not alone...I try to minimise my pizza ordering by having very quick stuff in the house that I know feels like comfort food - things like pasta with lots of pesto and cheese, potato wedges, that sort of thing.

Having said all that, to be honest I think most of us give into something or another when we have bad days.

I have a bad habit of eating large quantities of baked goods if I'm feeling down, and a couple of months ago I ate a whole box of flapjacks in one go. Feeling bad about this, I explained my lack of self control to my flatmate, who replied 'well, look on the bright side, at least it's not cocaine...' ;)

Well done! As a former smoker myself i know how very hard it is. Keep it up, you can do it. Just keep getting through one day at a time and remember to give yourself a pat on the back each night for getting through another day and then another :T
