No election in Northern Ireland

Options
I noticed on the news Tony Blair announcing the election in Britain, why no elections for Northern Ireland ?
Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.

Tony doesn't announce our council elections though, please see first post.
Isn't it great, plenty of paper to fill our blue bins with over the next few weeks!! What's your guess to the number of people that actually read this bumpfh - I think about 1 in a 100. :(

    :D What's your guess then?
  • Am I being paranoid or was my post about Northern Ireland not being a part of Great Britain removed.

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; note - Great Britain includes the countries of England, Scotland, and Wales.

So when Tony said, "Britain" I thought he was excluding Northern Ireland deliberately because of the ongoing situation with some Sinn Fein MP's.

Someone explained all this to me ages ago (and to be honest I wasn't paying that much attention) ... I think it was something along the lines of ...

Great Britain covers England, Scotland and Wales
United Kingdom covers England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands etc.
Britain is sometimes used instead of United Kingdom

    Damned confusing isn't it ....

I think you have it right.
Thanks why the Commonwealth Games team is 'Great Britain and NI'.
    I think.
Why do companies offer you "free gifts?"
Since when has a gift NOT been free?
