Neighbours Cherry Tree

This thread may be in the wrong please, please feel free to move it!!
My neighbour has a cherry tree in their garden taller than our house (which is a 3 storey town house by the way) and about 3 metres from the back of the house.
From 2pm it blocks out the sunlight in our back garden and drops cherries all over the lawn. I have had cherry stains on a couple of items of clothing which have been on the washing line, the stains do not come off!!
I have spoken to the neighbours who are not prepared to compromise and cut the tree back or down a bit. I have had it cut back off our garden but it makes little difference.
It is really annoying because we can see them in the garden sunning themselves while we sit in the shade.
Has anybody else had this problem or does anyone have any suggestions???

Unfortunately I do not think that there is anything that you can do about it. We have a similar problem, the only thing I can suggest is that you offer to pay for it to be reduced in height for them as it could be the cost of it that is stopping them doing it.0

At least you won't get skin cancer.;)
( sorry, probably not what you want to read)
I'd be more worried about the roots if it is so close to your house and it is that big. A tree surgeon would be able to advise which types of tree are problematic for foundations.
The tree is probably giving them privacy from your windows which may be why they are reluctant to do anything.0 -
See info here re trees and the law
