Ending JSA claim?

Since September last year I've been looking for full time employment, and as such, have been claiming JSA.

In January however, I applied for University. I didn't notify the Job Centre of this (was that wrong?), but from then up until now I have still been looking for full time employment (and I mean looking - just to be clear I don't live at home, this has been no 'gap year', I really needed/need a job).

Anyway, in June I was enrolled on the 'Work Program' (a total joke and waste of time, but that's not the point here) by my Job Centre.

My course starts on Monday. I have continued to claim JSA as I have looked elsewhere on the internet that this is fine, as I am seeking employment.

However, I need to end my claim today and have a few questions;
Firstly - how do i sign off? By phone, in person, fill out a form?
Secondly - will the job centre inform the 'Work Program', or is that up to me?
Thirdly - could i just write "I no longer wish to claim JSA" in the box where I'm asked to give a reason for signing off?

Sorry that it's a bit of a long winded read, but any information or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Can I put 'starting University' though? I'm concerned I may get into trouble as I've never notified them about this before?

    you won't get into trouble, you don't actually have to tell them anything, just that you no longer wish to claim. What you do after you sign off isn't really anything to do with them.

    Good luck with Uni :)

    Thanks. I think I will write it in the booklet. I'm rather shy and I'd be so embarrassed about having to go in to see my advisor and telling him I was signing off as I was starting University.

    A few other things;
    Do i send the completed booklet to my local job centre or to DWP? I take it i just enclose the booklet in a letter and stick it in a Post Box?
    And, does anyone know if it's up to the job centre or myself to notify the Work Program?

    you send it to the jobcentre that you sign on at, simply fill in the back bit and pop it in an envelope. They should then notify the work programme but they don't always so it might be an idea to give them a quick ring too or email them to say you are no longer signing on as you are starting university.

    Be warned they might still hound you for the next 2 years to see if you have got a job along side your uni place as they can then claim that they helped you get the job and get paid from the gov.
