Getting out of contract with Orange after large first bill.

  • Unfortunately there is no getting out of it unless you want to pay off the rest of your term (which will prove very expensive) + a cancellation fee.

Can anyone confirm whether I will be able to use 18866 to get cheap calls if I have an Orange Line Rental? It says on the Orange website that there is a 12.5p connection charge for calls - will I be charged this on top of the 18866 connection fee? Orange says I am not eligible for their 'cheap call packages because I live in a rural area and am 'Off Net' so I am looking at ways of keeping call costs down.
    Thanks, hope someone can help.

Just had a call from Orange and they have listened to the call and it was all in order and my Wife agreed to the service. I tried to argue that as they were telling her it would save her money over our existing arrangement the sales tactics were incorrect. Orange say that whilst they say they will save you money they can't guarantee it, I have argued that with Sky as an example I can get free broadband so how could I possibly be better off paying 33.50 a month with Orange.

As for the £33.50 they claim it is because BT have not upgraded my exchange and that they have to charge the extra £10.

Based on this I will now be cancelling as soon as possible and also cancelling my T-Mobile contract and moving elsewhere.

Very unhappy with the service and they will not budge or even try to orref any sort of discount or anything.

Orange charge £10 on top of their service for customers not in an LLU area. Orange's LLU coverage isn't great. If they quoted her £23.50 and didn't mention that she wasn't in an Orange network area then i would follow up the complaint. Likelyhood is she was only advised on the £23.50, unless they sneaked in the £10 non-orange network bit.
  • Cancelled Orange and moving to Sky who offered me free broadband for a year line rental for £14.50 and anytime calls for £5 so paying £19.50 a month where I have been paying up to £50 a month.

I also asked Orange if I could listen to the call they made to my Wife but they tell me they are not allowed to do this so I have no way of knowing whether they told her it would be £23.50 or £33.50.
