    fixed that for you ;)

Soz. Posting on the iPad leads to a lot of errors. I blame the lack of keyboard.
  • Well i will go to the interview and see how that goes. If i do succeed then depending on the hours i might be able to do both jobs which would bring some extra cash in for christmas.

If not then well at least i can use it as experience for future interviews haha :D

  • Yes it will look good on your CV. When I was taken on as a temp it was a brand new store, I quite liked working there. The staff discount was handy too :)

Best of luck with it

  • Hi all - quick update for anyone interested.

Went this morning and there was 11 of us. The majority of people came well dressed and smart. Two young girls in jeans and tshirts.

    Firstly we watched a DVD.

We then got into pairs and had to find out information about your partner and then introduce them to the group.

Then we were given a 'numeracy test' which was a sheet of paper with two columns of catalogue numbers and was asked to put a tick or a cross if the numbers were the same/different.

After this we were put into groups and had to design a superhero.

Then we went onto the shop floor and did a sheet on customer service.

Finally back to the room to complete another sheet about products in store.

    Lasted from 10 - 12.

Phonecalls next week for successful applicants to have a one to one interview :)

    Went for one totay,
1st task- Meeting lad next to me and introducing each other after a chatting and exchanging details (nice guy - hope he he gets a job.) - easy & fun

2nd task - Filled form cross checking 2 sets of cataloge numbers - if exact tick - if any difference cross (solo project.) - found it to be easy and short (no time pressure.)

3rd task - split into groups of 4 - each group given a product and catalogue to study, had to list features + benefits + addition extras/add on which we could also sell.. - easy (I'd imagine harder if your team was lacking - mine were awesome!)

4th task - split again into different groups, given a a2 sheet of paper and some highlighter pens plus sharpie and asked to draw an argos related superhero!!!!!!! Thankfully my creative imaginative group helped me out on this one - on my own I'd have been crying in fetal position on the floor before the 10 minutes was up.

With a few question afterwards the process took nearly 90 minutes. I know opinions of argos are divided, but I'm really hoping to land a job at my local store - their customer service and staff are simply amazing, despite prices being a little more than online retailers, I still stroll down to my local for the peace of mind.

Hope this short review helps people about to undergo the "interview" - best tip start thinking about some superpowers for your hero!

    Best of luck all!

p.s. I wore semi smart trousers (chinos?) and a tucked in smart button up shirt + leather shoes (polished). Two other men had on similar the rest has far more casual clothes on, super glad that I didn't go for a tie!

reading what you have to go though for a job at Argos makes me wonder how the heck some of the people you see working there, ever got the job!
  • I worked there in the Christmas of 2007 when I was 16. My interview was only a one on one and I was told there and then that I got the job. Being so young I didn't really think much of it was a little surprised I actually got it though since I didn't really try very hard and I was extremely awkward. I'm not sure how it is nowadays, but at the time, I think there were about 10 of us Christmas temps, and at the end of December they let a few go, about 4. I got kept on and my contract was extended till the end of January at which point there were only about 6 of us left. At the end of January they just explained to me that my contract was over etc, they seemed to have kept only 3 other temps on for a little longer. Having visited the store a couple of months later, I saw only one of my fellow temps there so unless the others quit, I'm assuming they only kept that one guy on. Looking back now I wish I had tried a little harder to be kept on because they did give me a lot of chances, I was just so quiet and awkward. I'm a lot more confident now and finding it really difficult to find a job. I have applied there again almost every year since but I think they just ignore my applications because I've already worked there as a temp? Which I think is quite unfair since I was pretty good at my job and always did as I was told. I wasn't bad at all, just quiet but I did get on with the job more than most of my colleagues who used to just stand around and chat. Congrats by the way. :)
