Metro Bank for deadbeats?

My boyfriend is looking to open a Business Current Account with Metro Bank and maybe a personal Current Account as well. However, he has a CCJ on his credit file from around 2009 as well as 3 Defaults from the same time period (2009). Is it worth him bothering to try with Metro or will they automatically decline somebody with this kind of credit history?

With a CCJ he may struggle to get a full account with any bank including Metrobank. They may offer him the basic account they have.
Possibly give it a try and see what happens.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
you best bet is to call them and ask if they credit check before opening an account.
As for a business account, I am sure they credit check you for ltd company, but they may not for self employed.
I got a barclays account with a CCJ, so its not impossible. if its for self-employed most banks will let you open an account, but you might have restrictions, ie no cards. Once you have a personal account open you can use it for your self employed account.
But anyway if you call them they will tell you, and the are legally obligated (i think) to tell you they will do a credit check.0 -
They definitely do a credit check to open an account.
