Will you print photos?
Would you like an all in one? If so, what quality scanning will you need?
What is the budget?0 -
For cheap compatibles I would go for an Epson.
Tesco £35

Compatible cartridges, check for better prices though these have 18ml of ink per cartridge

Getting the highest capacity cartridges is better because each time a cartridge is changed, the printer will use ink from all the cartridges
This printer will go to standby after a few minutes of being idle, which is better than switching the printer on and off, as that also requires the printer to use ink.
One option for photo paper

The quality of paper used for images will improve the output.
Set the printer to use its best photo options, then change them back to image and text for general use.0 -
WARNING if you are going to print photos then make sure it is a top feed printer.
Those feeding from a tray under the printer have to fold the paper over and the thicker photo paper cannot do it.0 -
I need a new printer anyone can tell me which branded cartridges of printer is best? any suggestions?0
