When you buy a new set of knives what do you do with your old ones,it's not exactly safe to bin them so where do they go?

Mine go in the bin if they're really shoddy, otherwise car boot or freecycle depending on condition.0

You can take them to your local council recycling centre. Just make sure they are well wrapped up when you transport them and go straight there. Some major police stations also have knife banks.0

A bit dangerous in the bin isn't it?0 -
A bit dangerous in the bin isn't it?
Dangerous in what way? I would wrap the blade in cardboard to prevent any injuries to the refuse collectors, but as they go into a wheelie bin which is emptied into the truck by machine, then taken to a landfill site which the public have no access to I don't really see that it poses any danger. I guess if I put them in the recycling bin which is then hand sorted there would be some risks, but I don't.0 -
weigh them in
probably costs more to get to the scrappies though
just bin them
pointless wrapping in cardboard as at the end of the day they have a pointed end
bins get tipped into a wagon which gets tipped at a landfill site which bulldozer moves
doubt they would sort it and if they did it would be put through a trommel so very little chance of injuring someone0 -
Keep them for DIY jobs.
Yep, gardening, cutting plants and flowers etc or in the garage for scraping and trimming stuff.
If you feel super conscientious, take them to the amnesty box at the police station.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Into the garage for garden jobs, or the messy DIY that I wouldn't use the good chisels etc for....
Once they've outlived the garage, they go in the metal recycling bin at the dump site - plenty of other sharp and ragged bits in there, so don't feel guilty about not wrapping them in cardboard.....0
