If you have any money left one month use it to stock up on store cupboard food or fill up the freezer. If you then have a month where your money runs out you will at least know that you won't starve.

But, basically it just boils down to tracking what you spend and not buying any treats or non-essentials until you have paid all the bills for that month.

What I find works great for me is to have 2-3 accounts

I have my main day to day spending account then a second bill account.

My wages get paid in on the 20th and I have a standing order set for the 21st for however much all my household DD's come to with a little extra to be safe.

Anything left in my main account I split between however many weeks are left before the next payday

I then have a savings account where any money left in either account on the 19th of the month gets transferred into be it £5 or this month £120 (i have no idea how)

    Hope this helps :T

I pay all my bills set up on monthly direct debit. This doesn't just include utilities but council tax, phone, TV license, sky TV,broadband and insurance. Money to cover this goes into an account that I dont have a card for so I cant dib into it and then have to find money again in the month to cover.

Then I have a spends account for all the other monthly expenses. I do my weekly shop on a saturday so check how many are in each month and put the amount of cash by I need. This account also has to cover petrol, clothes, haircuts, presents etc.

Having a really clear idea of your budget and where you could cut back will help to stretch your income over the month.
