Hi

Just a quick request for assistance.

ESURE HOME INSURANCE —NO CLAIMS—9 YEARS

I also have 2 other policies with them for cars insurance both with
years and years
no claims, I have 4 years no claims on my motorbike insurance with another firm.
A good few years of no claims.

I had a burst pipe and started a claim sending some pics to esure,
decided not to
claim and pay for the job myself also doing it myself all to save
claiming my home
insurance..

2010—I was £221
2011---I was £241
2012…they want 400 pounds.

I called and asked why it had shot up £160 they told me it was down to
the underwriters they claim that because I started a claim but never
went through AND even though they paid out
no money its resulted in my premium shooting up.

Im an honest hard working low paid GCC worker who if possible does not claim on his insurance…honest…and honesty results in this.
I suspect when I do look elsewhere this underwriter claim with tarnish my insurance record.

Im getting punished for not claiming…sad world for honest people.

Thanks

Unforunately even though you have not claimed, the underwriters will see that you had a incident which could have been a potential claim. Now they think that there is a good chance it will happen again and they adjust the premium accordingly.

Where? There is no indication of any rip off in your post.

You have a declarable event that you need to tell any insurer you go with for the next 3-6 years (depending on their disclosure period). You are not being punished. You suffered an event that created a loss and you could claim on. The minute you contact the insurer, it becomes an incident and incidents are held against you.

How much it will be held against you will vary from firm to firm. Esure cherry pick. They price well on clean applications but they shoot the price up on cases that fall outside there preferred risk range.

Yet again use of the phrase 'rip off' where there is none.

Then this is all down to your ignorance, not a rip off.

As you already been advised, insurers record all incidents you report which could lead to a loss or a claim. Not just "claims".

Instead of feeling sick, try and find a better deal elsewhere.

It seems you have been with them for years, so try shopping around (disclose your incident when asking for quotes) and see if you are getting the best deal.

in the "old" days if you had a claim you would have gone down to the local broker to register the claim. The broker would then tell you if it was worth claiming or not and the consequences of a claim. Therefore keeping your informed of the pros and cons.

Nowadays, people bypass the broker and choose to DIY. If you DIY then you are saying you know what you are doing. Just like any area of DIY, if you know what you are doing then you can save money but if you dont know what you are doing then it can end up costing you money.

Guess you mean esure not ensure....

Before blasting everyone for not agreeing with your opinion, you need to understand how insurance works.

They assess risks and manage their exposure to the identified risks, by applying premiums relevant to the likelihood and severity of an incident occurring.

They formulate their assessment of the risk from information you voluntarily provide them.

Any renewal results in the premium shooting up.
Shop around, get a quote from a comparison site, you'll probably manage to get that price down by a few hundred.

    Unnecessary and uncalled for.

Where do you see that from this advice given to you:
