They're not broken you're just looking at them wrongly :p
  • In steps The Goodman to explain it's all the fault of Android:p
  • Thought it was some really advanced feature that showed current cloud coverage... then realised. Ha!

  • Quite a headline just because the map app is crap. I'm sure it will probably get fixed sooner rather than later. Apart from the knackered map app I haven't found any reason not to update. I and thousands of others have updated with no problems. It would have been nice if it had all been flawless but hey ho that's life.
  • Almost the problem with the Map App is that the app itself isnt knackered just the data on the server is. This makes it very very easy for Apple to fix - and indeed looking up some of the previously reported problems, I dont get the errors - but it means as an end user you dont actually know when they've been "fixed" as it is an ittrative process purely on the server side.

The bigger issue I had with the Maps App was that public transport isnt built in and if you select it it lists a number of paid for apps to purchase to do it.

Dont use maps often and found Google to be inaccurate at times so wasnt a reason to stop me upgrading or reject my new phone but more of a minor frustration

I've updated all my devices to iOS6 knowing that the maps weren't up to scratch, IMO the feature gains (mainly siri on the iPad) outweigh the terrible maps.

News is Google have their own Maps app waiting to be approved by Apple right now, I will be disgusted if Apple decide not to approve it on grounds it 'duplicates functionality', I will also be disgusted if they delay and drag their feet on approval like they did with Google Voice (held it for a year before they approved it) and Spotify.

Latest rumour has it that google maps is likely to be refused on the duplication of functions already provided by apple.
As for the map app its self it looks like a slight change in the UI and it will take time for people to adjust to.
  • My only gripe is that streetview is not available anymore, i use this quite a lot when im out and about. Is there anyway to keep ios6 and still get google maps with street view?
