Confused and absolutely needs help ICOS HE24 Boiler Problems

My boiler has gone, nowt there. The heating does not work. The burner symbol does not light. I tried sorting it but nothing.
I pressed reset so many times- nothing comes from it. I called someone who managed to fix it, then later in the day, it just goes to the wall again and the heating stops working.
I am now worried that it won't heat my water as I have read from other people's post on this site.Apparently this boiler is crap. I got to say, it certainly true from what I am experiencing now.

I am not sure whether I should pay for cover in order to repair the boiler or get a completely new boiler.
If I do get a new boiler- should I go with British gas? What boiler should I choose? Which is the best? I am getting confused atm.

  • You are right about one thing, this boiler is crap, I have had british gas fix mine 5 times, last last winter it failed again, kitchen flooded twice, first when heat exchanger went, second, when gas fitter installed new exchange unit, he forgot to tighten up an expansion slot and boom, 3 foot high water gusher. spent over a week without a boiler, freezing, whole family was ill for weeks afterward. gas fitter left with still a fault code showing l9, said it would settle down ? Left B.G. now with ideal, have put on heating for first time this year September 2013, the boiler has bust again and flooded the kitchen, I have called Ideal and now (MANAGED BY AN INSURANCE COMPANY)awaiting an engineer visit. interested to see how they compare to B.G. PS THE BOLIER IS 6 YEARS OLD.

Your first call should obviously be to the person who 'fixed' it. Were they a GSR RGI?
BG typically charge around 40% more than an independent for a new install. Get some comparative prices.
